The Convention Committee of VCON, The Vancouver Area Science Fiction, Fantasy, and Gaming Convention, invites writers and prospective writers to submit their original Science Fiction/Fantasy manuscripts this month for the Writer's Workshop. The optional (CDN$15 fee) workshop is a three-hour session with a group of professional writers, all of whom have read your manuscript in advance.
The deadline for submissions is September 1st, 2004, as per the postmark on the submission.
Participants receive, in advance, copies of manuscripts from the others in your group. Manuscripts will be critiqued by both pros and participants, and all participants are expected to attend their assigned workshop(s). Please include a note with the submission advising available if you won't be at VCON the entire weekend.
Coffee, juice and goodies will be included, in a private boardroom. Short stories, novel chapters with a page of background info, SF/fantasy poetry, and scripts for stage or screen are eligible. Limit: one manuscript (up to 6,000 words) or several poems per person.
Send your manuscript (with name, address, phone number and E-mail address on the first page) in the format appropriate to the genre (with numbered pages) plus a cheque for the CDN$15.00/US$11.25 fee, in a 9" x 12" envelope with adequate postage, to:
