The Best of the Best 07/05/2004 . Source: Jessica Martin
Two new SFF anthologies want your science fiction and fantasy stories. Editor from down-under Jonathan Strahan has dropped us a line about two new reprint anthologies he and Karen Haber are in change of: 'Science Fiction - The Best of 2004', and 'Fantasy - The Best of 2004'.
If you're a SFF writer and has had short fiction published in 2004, he would like to receive your material before October 1st 2004.
His press release says:
"Submission deadline for stories is 1st October 2004. Anything sent after this deadline will reach me too late. If a magazine you edit will be coming out by 31st December 2004, you can send me galleys or manuscripts so that I can consider the stories in time. Email submissions are discouraged, however if for some reason it's difficult to send a print copy e-mail me to check."
"I will accept e-mail copies of anything to be published after 1st October 2004. If you have something you'd like me to consider, let me know. I'm not able to follow up every publisher or publication, so a heads-up is appreciated and you may want to check with your publisher that they've sent me a copy."
"Please do not send a SASE. If I choose a story you will be informed. If you want to confirm that I've received something, enclose your email address and I will let you know the date it arrived. For stories that appear on the web (other than SciFiction and Strange Horizons), please send me, or have your publisher send me, print-outs of your story."
"You do not need to send me stories published in the major magazines - I see Asimov's, Analog, F&SF, Realms of Fantasy, Interzone, and SciFiction -or in anthologies from major publishers, but I would appreciate a head's up e-mail if you have something coming out."
He stresses that while he's based in Oz, submissions - as long as they're in English language - can be from SFF magazines world-wide.
