Faye Dunaway Signs on to 'Anonymous Rex' 19/04/2004 . Source: Jessica Martin
Joining Sam Trammell, Daniel Baldwin, and Stephanie Lemelin in the Sci-Fi Channel's new movie pilot. The Sci-Fi Channel has signed actress Faye Dunaway (Network, Chinatown, Bonnie and Clyde) and composer and actor Isaac Hayes (Shaft, South Park), for cameo roles in the Channel's two-hour movie pilot 'Anonymous Rex'.
They've walked the earth since the dawn of time. We humans thought they died out centuries ago. However, it looks like we never got the memo - they've simply downsized.
With a generous dose of dark comedy and a wink to film noir gold standards Chinatown and Blade Runner, Trammell and Baldwin play two gumshoe detectives, insiders to an underground world of highly evolved, incredibly sophisticated descendents of dinosaurs.
These technologically advanced creatures don't look like their prehistoric ancestors and make their way in the world disguised as humans. Oh, and they could be anybody. You'd think being smarter and stronger than humans might make life a little easier, but when garden variety herbs like basil get you high and your holographic disguise is always on the fritz, you have to wonder if there is a better way.
Dunaway and Hayes join Sam Trammell (Autumn in New York) who plays private eye "Vincent Rubio," Daniel Baldwin (Homicide: Life on the Street) as Rubio's P.I. partner "Ernie Watson," and Stephanie Lemelin (Malcolm in the Middle) in the Rex cast. Dunaway will play "Shin," the leader of a secret governing council of disguised modern day dinosaurs, of which Hayes' character is also a member.
Based on Eric Garcia's award-winning novels (Matchstick Men), Anonymous Rex offers an unconventional twist on the mystery genre.
Rex is produced by Fox Studios, directed by Julian Jarrold (Touching Evil, White Teeth), and written by Joe Menosky (The Dead Zone). Menosky is executive producing. Garcia is co-executive producer.
