Science fiction fans needed for new TV series 16/03/2004 . Source: Jessica Martin
At a loose end in London next Tuesday? The BBC needs science fiction fans for the audience of a new literary television show. Lion Television - who together with the BBC produced last year's 'The Big Read' competition - are back with a new TV series, and they need science fiction and fantasy fans for many of the episodes.
The programme will present literature in a mock courtroom where two titles do battle against each other to secure the audience vote to decide which is the better book. Mariella Frostrup and Jack Klaff will be the regular panellists, with James Naughtier presiding.
Lion and the BBC are very keen to get more book lovers involved. The programme is organised in a way that allows the audience to vote and certain people chosen on the day will be asked to offer their individual opinions to camera. These opinions are then cut in with the final edit to allow BBC viewers to see what readers think.
Programmes will be recorded on 23rd & 24th March, 14th & 16th April, and the 12th, 18th & 19th May 2004.
One of the early eps is Philip K Dick's 'Valis' versus Aldous Huxley's 'Brave New World'. It's being filmed next Tuesday on 23rd March at 18:00 in Capital Studios, Wandsworth (London, UK).
Guest seakers are Ken Campbell, John Dowie, Nicholas Murray and Gwynneth Jones.
If you would like to free tickets to be part of the audience for this episode or any of the others, please contact Kate Bullions on 0141 331 0450 or e-mail her at kate.bullions@liontv.co.uk
