Author Kevin J. Anderson strikes Spice
08/03/2004 Source: Jessica Martin

Or should that be gold? Read on for some great 'Dune' news as well as movie-related stuff for Kevin's 'Captain Nemo' novel.

In a major deal, Tor Books and Hodder & Stoughton (UK) have contracted with Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson for more 'Dune' novels.

The deal includes the two-volume grand climax to the 'Dune' chronicles, based directly on the Dune outline written by Frank Herbert, as well as THE ROAD TO DUNE, a compendium of never-before-published chapters from DUNE and DUNE MESSIAH, as well as original stories and a short novel written by Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson.

The deal was made by Robert Gottlieb, John Silbersack, and Kim Whalen at Trident Media Group.

Anderson has also sold Books 4-6 in his own science fiction epic, The Saga of Seven Suns, to Jaime Levine at Warner Aspect (US) and Ben Ball at Simon & Schuster (UK), via John Silbersack at Trident Media Group. The popular series has already branched out into comics with a recently published hardcover graphic novel from DC/Wildstorm.

Book Club and unabridged audio rights have previously been sold for the series, as well as translation rights in Germany, Russia, Bulgaria, and Czech Republic.

Finally, the film and TV option to Anderson's novel 'Captain Nemo' has been renewed for the third consecutive year by Steven L. Sears (Xena, A-Team, Sheena) at PondaLee Productions and Gabriel Grunfeld (The Stepford Wives) at Laureate Films. Anderson has also written and delivered the novelization for this summer's film, 'Sky Captain & The World of Tomorrow'.
