Del Rey nab the Brits (and the Vamps) 16/02/2004 . Source: Jessica Martin
Dely Rey have just signed new novels from Brit authors David Gemmell and Richard Morgan ... and, umm, Tara from Buffy the Vampire Slayer? Well, Del Rey Books has just nabbed three new as yet unwritten fantasy novels by UK fantasy writer David Gemmell, due to hit the streets October 2006, 2007 and 2008. The first two books will be the nub ends of David's Trojan War trilogy (the first in this trilogy is already signed to appear in October 2005, to be published in parallel with the British release from Transworld).
The third book is still in concept mode, so more news as we get it.
UK cyberpunk author Richard Morgan (aka the fab 'Altered Carbon') has been signed for his new novel 'Market Forces' - a dark thriller set in a world of class struggle where the media determines perception and war is a bankable commodity, plus another SF novel as yet on the drawing board.
Finally, DR have got their hands on Amber Benson (aka Tara from Buffy the Vampire Slayer) who along with author Christopher Golden will pen a series of novels based on the BBC's new animated online drama, 'Ghosts of Albion'.
The novels are set in 19th century London, with supernaturally gifted siblings battling various evils intent on destroying Great Britain. The kids are assisted by the 'Ghosts of Albion', ghosts of Lord Nelson, Lord Byron, and Queen Bodicea.
Hmmm. The League of Extraordinary Spooks, anyone?
