Simulacrum Magazine Launches 09/02/2004 . Source: Jessica Martin
And the first issue is available free as a downloadable PDF file. Simulacrum: The Magazine of Speculative Transformation is a polished new Adobe PDF-format magazine which has recently hit the streets.
Each issue features fiction, poetry, interviews, and artwork by new and established professionals like Sarah Ash, Lyda Morehouse, Tim Pratt, Angeline Hawkes-Craig, Zohar A Goodman, Peter Kudriashov and Les Edwards, among others.
The design and layout is very professional, easily matching its more expensive printed competitors. Art? In a SFF magazine? Crikes, that's a rare thing these days.
Proving the 'Net's worth as an equalizing medium, the mag's editor, Lynne Jamneck, is based in South Africa.
She's looking for fiction - between 1000 and 8000 words - and currently pays in copies, rather than the Rand-like stuff.
The first issue is free to download, so what the heck are you waiting for?
