World Fantasy Awards Open for Business

The flag drops on the 2004 WFAs. Competitors, start your engines now.

Well, the judges for the World Fantasy Awards have now been empanelled, and any materials sent to the judges must be received by them by June 1st 2004.

The Gahan Wilson-designed trophies will be presented to the winners at the World Fantasy con, to be held Thursday-Sunday, October 28-31, 2004 at the Tempe Mission Palms Hotel, 60 E. Fifth Street, Tempe, AZ 85281.

Attending membership at the World Fantasy Convention is $130 U.S. until 1/31/04 (membership forms are over at http://www.worldfantasy.org).

If you have any material that you wish to be considered by the panel, please send them directly to the addresses below, and very importantly, please mark any packages as 'World Fantasy Award Materials'.

Also, please make sure to send a file copy of any and all materials to the WFA office so a comprehensive list may be kept, as well as backup copies for any that are lost or misplaced.

This is the only way the judges can consider all eligible items, and you can be sure that your work has been given fair attention.

Qualifications: All books must have been published in 2003; magazines must have a 2003 cover date; only living authors and editors are eligible.

Fantasy Types: ALL FANTASY is eligible: High fantasy, horror, sword & sorcery, supernatural, children's and YA books, and beyond.

Categories are: Life Achievement; Best Novel; Best Novella (10,001 to 40,000 words); Best Short Story; Best Anthology; Best Collection; Best Artist; Special Award--Pro; Special Award--Non-Pro.

Please note the nominees in the Life Achievement category will not be released. Only the winner's name will be announced at the awards banquet.
