Fantasy author Patricia C. Wrede on the radio 04/02/2005 . Source: Jessica Martin
Writer Patricia C. Wrede is interviewed on this month's episode of Fast Forward: Contemporary Science Fiction. Wrede talks about collaborating with co-author Caroline Stevermer on their latest novel, The Grand Tour.
In conversation with host Mike Zipser, Wrede discusses the special challenges of creating an authentic feel for a first person fantasy novel that is also a regency romance.
According to Wrede, getting the language right was critical: "We went back and back over that, checking. And there were times when we wore out pages in the OED checking, was this word in use in this sense."
The February episode of Fast Forward also features Colleen Cahill's review of the essay collection Interstellar Travel and Multi-Generation Space Ships, edited by Yoji Kondo and members of the AAS.
In addition, Marianne Petrino gives high marks to Haibane-Renmei, an anime video series distributed by Pioneer Entertainment.
Fast Forward: Contemporary Science Fiction is a monthly half-hour television series about the genres of science fiction, fantasy, and horror. Fast Forward is produced by D.G. Productions through the facilities of Arlington Independent Media in Arlington, Virginia. The show has been in production since 1989 and can be viewed on cable systems in Arlington and Fairfax counties in Virginia.
