Star Trek Executive Producer Rick Berman acknowledges declining ratings were the primary factor in the cancellation of Star Trek: Enterprise in an interview for the Tenth Birthday issue of STAR TREK MAGAZINE.

Despite the cancellation of Star Trek: Enterprise in February, Berman says the planned eleventh feature film will go ahead and hints that the final episode of the series will be something special. "When we sat down and created the story for this last episode we did it with a feeling that there was a very good chance that the show would not be continuing," he reveals, "but that there was a possibility it might. And we wrote accordingly."

The issue includes reaction from fans and cast and a round up of the future options for Star Trek: Enterprise if campaigns to save it from cancellation are successful.

The issue also includes interviews with Six Feet Under star Joanna Cassidy, George Takei (Sulu) Star Trek: Enterprise star Anthony Montgomery (Ensign Travis), Star Trek: The Next Generation's LeVar Burton (Geordi LaForge) and Orion Slave Girl Bobbi Sue Luther, who graces the cover of this tenth birthday issue.

Despite the sad news for Star Trek: Enterprise the Magazine crew are determined to celebrate a landmark issue, revealing their favourite issues and some of the stranger stories behind the start of the Magazine way back in 1995.

Now the Titan Publishing Group's Operations Director, Leigh Baulch recalls "All of the negotiations to secure the magazine license predate mobile phones, and I have a really strong recollection of doing the contract renegotiations in a phone box, in Sussex, between publisher Nick Landau and Los Angeles! So there I am with handfuls of 10 pence pieces, trying to make this trans-Atlantic deal come together! "It may look like modern and glamorous magazine publishing now, but in those days it was a little more primitive!"

The issue also includes a revealing background feature on the making of the classic Star Trek: The Original Series episode Space Seed, together with some rare visual effects photographs from the show; an article by author Una McCormack on the secrets of writing Star Trek books; and a competition to win Star Trek DVDs and other goodies.

"This issue may be tinged with sadness at the cancellation of Star Trek: Enterprise, the cast and crew on the show have been simply wonderful - but for us the saga continues," says Editor John Freeman. "Star Trek's much bigger than one show and our readership reflects that."
