Magic for sale 21/03/2005 . Source: Jessica Martin
The Mummy series and Van Helsing director Stephen Sommers will direct a film based on the book series MAGIC KINGDOM FOR SALE by fantasy author Terry Brooks. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Universal acquired the rights, and has veteran screenwriters Lowell Ganz and Babaloo Mandel to adapt the screenplay.
The series, the first volume of which was published in the late 1980s, tells the story of a widowed attorney who leaves his old life behind when he responds to a mysterious ad and spends his fortune to purchase a magical kingdom. He and his two children get more than they bargained for when they find the kingdom on the verge of chaos.
The project could end up being the first movie Sommers directs that he didn't write. Sommers is currently writing and producing a Flash Gordon remake.
