Star Wars is the most used keyword on the Net 24/05/2005 . Source: Jessica Martin
Search engine Lycos announces that Star Wars is now the most searched for key word on its web indexing system. Buy Star Wars in the USA - or Buy Star Wars in the UK "Luuuuuuke, I am your Father."
As the world comes to know how and why Darth Vader moved over to the Dark Side, the final Star Wars film moves to the top of this week's list.
Search activity for Star Wars 3 doubled this week on Lycos, pushing the Lucas juggernaut past web phenoms Pamela Anderson (#2) and Paris Hilton (#3). In fact, SW3 generates nearly three times more search interest than American Idol (#6).
Searches for the final film in the franchise have been exciting web users over the past year. Each milestone for Sith has made its way up the Lycos search logs. The movie made its debut on The Lycos 50 back in August 2004, when the title of the film was revealed in dramatic fashion at a comic convention. A man got up in front of the huge crowd and pulled off a baseball jersey revealing a black T-shirt displaying the new title, Revenge of the Sith.
The search query, Star Wars, is three times more popular than any other Star Wars movie search. However, searches for Star Wars Episode 3, are six times more popular than searches for the query, Revenge of the Sith. Some Star Wars' searches that didn't make the top 10, but are worth mentioning: Star Wars Rap, Star Wars Christmas Special, Star Wars vs. Star Trek, What does the Christian Church say about Star Wars, and Star Wars Wedding Ceremony Vows.
The most popular Star Wars-related searches for the week ending May 21, 2005:
1. Star Wars 2. Star Wars Episode 3 3. Star Wars Episode 2 4. Revenge Of The Sith 5. Light Saber 6. Padme's Wardrobe 7. Star Wars Galaxies 8. Star Wars Costumes 9. Star Wars Games 10. StarWars.com
You have got to wonder about the IQ of those conducting search number 10.
Don't those fuckwits know what a URL is?
