Gauntlet Press auction off Matheson manuscript 20/05/2005 . Source: Jessica Martin
Gauntlet Press is auctioning off Richard Matheson's handwritten and typewritten manuscripts of 'Woman', his new novel. Richard Matheson writes all of his first drafts by hand and afterwards he types them up he discards the handwritten manuscript.
Fortunately, he sent publisher Gauntlet Press the handwritten manuscript for WOMAN as they were thinking of including portions in the limited edition.
Instead, they used the play he wrote that his novel is based upon.
To raise money for their June 7th book launch and tribute, Matheson has authorized them to auction the handwritten manuscript on eBay. He's even signed the first page.
It's 182 pages long, written on yellow legal paper and has many handwritten corrections and additions. The typewritten draft is 207 pages long and includes corrections, as well.
These are one-of-a-kind items NOT copies, which should increase in value.
The item numbers are:

The auction runs through May 24th.
