Batmobile to race in NASCAR 16/05/2005 . Source: Jessica Martin
The Batmobile is racing for real, but what are the odds the Joker will emerge and interfere with the pit stops? Buy Batman in the USA - or Buy Batman in the UK When NASCAR officials announced that the Batmobile will act as honorary pace car in the newly-named Batman Begins 400, an upcoming Nextel Cup race, Sports Interaction executives decided to up the ante with some lines on the famous supercar's performance and what else may happen at the June 19th 2005 NASCAR Race in the USA's Michigan.
Sports Interaction clients will wager on the likelihood of a wide variety of possible promotional events on race day. A $10 wager on the Batmobile entering the race could yield a payoff of as much as $670; betting that the Batmobile wins outright could pay $5000; if the movie's star decides to help the pit crews, that would make some lucky client $2000 richer.
Sports Interaction is also offering lines on the likelihood of such novel race day possibilities as drivers dressing as Batman, pit crews dressing as Alfred the Butler, and the checkered flag bearing a Batman logo.
In addition to race-related wagers, Sports Interaction is offering its members the chance to speculate which studio and movie will be the next to sponsor a NASCAR event. The possibilities include the upcoming The Dukes of Hazzard (Warner Bros.), Bewitched (Sony Pictures), Herbie: Fully Loaded (Walt Disney), and Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith (Lucasfilm) among others.
Other wagers include:
66/1 - The Batmobile to enter the race.
500/1 - The Batmobile to enter the race and win.
1/1 - Christian Bale to appear in the crowd.
200/1 - Christian Bale to assist the pit crew during stops with his utility belt.
20/1 - All race commentators on live television to dress as Batman.
66/1 - The studio to insist all drivers dress as Batman.
100/1 - The studio to insist all drivers dress as Batman and all pit crew dress as Alfred the Butler.
100/1 - The winners bottle of Champagne to be served by Alfred the Butler.
10/1 - The chequered flag to be replaced by a flag with the Batman logo on it.
100/1 - The Joker to emerge and interfere with any of the pit stops.
