Buzz Aldrin joins advisory board of Cosmos magazine

Australia's new popular science magazine, Cosmos, today announced the appointment of its Editorial Advisory Board, made up of leading figures in the sciences and the arts - including astronaut Buzz Aldrin, celebrated palaeontologist Mike Archer, sci-fi novelist and futurist Damien Broderick, medical research pioneer Judith Whitworth and renowned science journalist Robyn Williams.

Cosmos covers the 'science of everything' - from human biology and medicine, the environment, archaeology, space and astronomy, to information technology, society and social research.

"It's important for Cosmos to stay abreast of new ideas and the latest thinking in science and technology. This is an advisory board of outstanding leaders who will help us do that," said the editor of Cosmos, Wilson da Silva.

Robyn Williams, Chairman
Science journalist and host of The Science Show, ABC Radio National.

Dr Buzz Aldrin
Apollo 11 astronaut and the second person to walk on the Moon.

Professor Mike Archer
Dean of Science at the University of New South Wales, former Director of the Australian Museum.

Professor Judith Whitworth
Director, John Curtin School of Medical Research, Australian National University.

Dr Damien Broderick
Novelist, futurist and a senior research fellow at the University of Melbourne.

Dr Bryan Gaensler
Assistant Professor in Astronomy, Harvard University and 1999 Young Australian of the Year.
