Eurocon-2005, the 27th European Science Fiction Convention was held in Glasgow, Scotland from August 4th till August 8th 2006. This year Eurocon had been run together with Worldcon, the 63rd World Science Fiction Convention. Over 4200 members from 38 countries (25 from Europe) paid visit to the biggest Scottish city to take part in various seminars, round tables, meetings, parties, etc. And, of course, to vote for best European and World SF professionals.
Guests of Honors were as follows: Greg Pickersgill (UK), Christopher Priest (UK), Robert Sheckley (USA, was represented by his wife Gail Dana), Lars-Olov Strandberg (Sweden), Jane Yolen (USA). Many World leading SF and Fantasy writers, editors, publishers, artists and other SF&F professionals also appeared.
One of the most important questions discussed was the current state of SF&F magazine market in Europe. On august 7, during a discussion, it was decided to organize "Plovdiv Group" - a group of European SF&F magazines with main aim to promote European cultural tradition in SF&F in the World.

National delegations also voted for a hosting town of Eurocon in 2007. Two bids were announced - Dublin, Ireland and Copenhagen, Denmark. Copenhagen won the bid, and Eurocon in 2007 will be held in Denmark.
EUROCON - European Science Fiction Convention - is held every year in various countries of Europe. The first Eurocon was held in 1972 in Trieste, Italy. Till 1982 Eurocons were held biyearly. Since 1983 Eurocon is held annually (but a few exception). At that convention European Science Fiction Society (ESFS) was created.
