Bob Denver dies

Nest reader Steve Green sadly reports that actor Bob 'Gilligan's Planet' Denver has died aged 70. Buy Gilligan's Planet in the USA - or Buy Gilligan's Planet in the UK  Actor Bob Denver died Friday 2nd, aged 70. Eponymous star of Gilligan's Island (1964-7), he reprised the role in numerous tv movies and the 1982 animated series Gilligan's Planet.
Other appearances included The Invisible Woman (tvm, 1982) and Miss Cast Away (2004), where he returned to the Gilligan character amidst assorted Jurassic Park and Planet of the Apes spoofery.
Trivia point: the pilot for Gilligan's Island was filmed in 1963, shortly after JFK's assassination, and boat's filmed in longshot can be seen flying at halfmast.
