Orson Scott Card goes comic
22/10/2005 Source: Jessica Martin

Science fiction and fantasy comic-book publisher Dabel Brothers has announced that they will be continuing work with fantasy and science fiction writers such as Raymond E. Feist, George R. R. Martin, Robert Silverberg and Tad Williams into 2006 with several new titles adapted from these authors' most popular works.

And to build on their success, the Dabel Brothers have licensed the works of several additional fantasy and sci-fi writers, first among them Orson Scott Card, Monte Cook and R.A. Salvatore.

"Back when we first started working on our first comic book, we had a vision for what we wanted to do in this industry," Les Dabel, Vice President of Dabel Brothers Production, told SFcrowsnest.com. "We wanted to produce high quality adaptations of some of the best novels in the realm of fantasy and science fiction. And, despite some rough curves and learning experiences, we've accomplished just that with critically-acclaimed titles like Tad Williams's The Burning Man, Richard A. Knaak's Dragonlance: The Legend of Huma, George R. R. Martin's The Hedge Knight and Raymond E. Feist's The Wood Boy."

"What's more, we're in a great position to continue expanding our line of titles, having numerous licensed properties already in the works for a 2006 launch, and we're excited to be building relationships with an even wider array of bestselling authors from the realm of science fiction and fantasy. We've even developed a new logo that should help fans to immediately associate DB Pro with these genres."

Some of the new titles from the Dabel Brothers will include:

- George R.R. Martin's The Hedge Knight II: Sworn Sword.

- Raymond E. Feist's The Riftwar Saga: Magician.

- Orson Scott Card's The Tales of Alvin Maker: Red Prophet.

- Orson Scott Card's Wyrms.

- R.A. Salvatore's The Highwayman.

- Monte Cook's Ptolus.

In addition, the Dabel Brothers have also begun work on several original books, including:

- Michael Lent's Prey: Origin of the Species.

- Marshal (A science fiction story that aims to fuse the excitement of a space colony frontier with the action of a great police drama).

- Age of Darkness (A fantasy epic with a manga feel).

- Minus World (A new series about video game characters who discover a way to travel between each other's worlds).
