Piers Anthony is the latest in a long-line of SF&F writers to move into comics, with a new series coming from Image/Top Cow being solicited in the new Previews catalogue with a large Piers Anthony Presents star on top of the artwork: http://forbiddenplanet.co.uk/blog/?p=811
Also on the SF writers-to-comic thing Richard Morgan's second Black Widow mini-series for Marvel has just come out in graphic novel form (which I will have to buy, but will also have to tease him about that cover!).
