Spider and Jeanne Robinson get jiggy

SFF authors the Robinsons would like your help in making a thirty-year dream of dance in zero gravity come true. Recent progress in computer generated graphics has, at last, made it feasible for Ms. Robinson to pursue on film her visions of choreography unhindered by gravity. She is now in the early stages of producing "Stardance," a short film that will finally bring dance together with the majesty and grandeur of outer space.
With her husband Spider Robinson, Jeanne Robinson co-authored the Stardance trilogy of science fiction novels (to be published in a single hardcover volume in September 2006 by Baen Books), which examine the role of dance and the arts in space.
During the 1980s, Jeanne was short-listed for a seat on the Space Shuttle as part of NASA's Civilian In Space Program. That program was canceled when the first civilian chosen was killed in the Challenger accident. Now, thanks to progress in computer animation, she can achieve on film what she was not able to accomplish in real life a quarter of a century ago realize her vision of choreography unhindered by gravity.
Says Robinson, who is now seeking public and private funding to complete her film, "More than 99 percent of the universe is a zero-gravity environment that can help humanity grow beyond our dependence on the surfaces of large planets if we can just experience the beauty, meditative stillness and physical comfort to be found there. I feel that zero-G can be a powerful key to the kind of accelerated human evolution we talked about at length in our novels."
Jeanne Robinson was founder and artistic director of Nova Dance Theatre, a professional contemporary dance company in Halifax, Nova Scotia from 1980-87, and choreographed more than 30 original works for performance.
Ms, Robinson has assembled a very powerful core production team. Director/co-producer/co-writer Michael Lennick and his associate Michel Plaxton created the groundbreaking 13-part documentary series ROCKET SCIENCE for Discovery Channel. Michael's technical background includes designing the visual effects for such projects as David Cronenberg's Videodrome and the TV series War of the Worlds. Also on the team are Hugo-winning visual effects designer Ron Miller who has inherited Chesley Bonestell's mantle as the greatest living painter of space themes, and veteran graphics designer/writer, sage and muse Jack Senett. Line producer Lynn Fuhr brings her wealth of production experience to the team. Latest to come on board is acclaimed TV and film score composer James Raymond, son of David Crosby who has toured often with Crosby, Stills and Nash.
The Robinsons are looking for help in making this film possible. They want to advance the idea of dance and the arts in space, but they can't do it alone.
