The Aeon Award 2006-2007
02/06/2006 Source: Jessica Martin

Albedo One, the Irish Magazine of Science Fiction, Fantasy and Horror, has announced the 2nd Aeon Award for short fiction.

Grand Prize: €1,000 - plus guaranteed publication in Albedo One for the top three stories as judged by Ian Watson (these stories will also be eligible for the Best of Issue Award of €100).

First deadline for submission of stories is September 30th 2006. Every three months, at the end of September '06, December '06, March '07 and June '07, the best story submissions of those three months will be chosen by a panel of judges and shortlisted for the award and announced on the Albedo One website.

The overall winner will be chosen from the highest-ranking stories on the shortlist by renowned science fiction, fantasy and horror author Ian Watson. Entries should be no more than 8,000 words and must be typed, double spaced on one side of A4 (or equivalent) paper, and submitted to:

Aeon Award, 8 Bachelor's Walk, Dublin 1, Republic of Ireland.

Alternatively, entrants may submit their work by e-mail to fraslaw@yahoo.co.uk. E-mail entries must be placed in the body of the e-mail. Attachments will not be opened for system security reasons.

Multiple entries are allowed, but must be submitted separately. Entries must not have been previously published. Shortlisted stories may not be published elsewhere while judging proceeds. All submissions must be accompanied by an entry fee of 5 euro or sterling/dollar equivalent.

Payment may be made securely and easily here via PayPal (which accepts credit card, a PayPal account is NOT required) or directly by credit card (Visa/MasterCard/AMEX etc). For this, please contact bobn@yellowbrickroad.ie. The Award is intended to be accessible to as many writers as possible, so for alternative, flexible payment options please don't hesitate to contact bobn@yellowbrickroad.ie.

Copyright remains with the author, though Albedo One reserves the right to publish the short-listed stories in the magazine and on its website. No correspondence will be entered into. Judges decision is final.

Shortlists and final results will be published in Albedo One magazine and on the Albedo One website: www.albedo1.com
