14/10/2006 Source: Jessica Martin

Authors Elisabeth Vonarburg and Robert Charles Wilson, actor Steve Bacic from the television series Andromeda and Stargate SG-1, and television director David Winning will be Guests of Honour at Con-Cept 2006.

Canadian author Robert Charles Wilson won a Hugo for his novel Spin at this year's World Science Fiction Convention. Spin is the fourth of his novels to appear as a finalist for the Hugo Award. Author of 12 novels and many short stories, he has previously been awarded the John W. Campbell Award, three Aurora Awards, and the Philip K. Dick Award.

Elisabeth Vonarburg has won about 30 International awards, among them the Prix du Conseil quebecois de la Femme en litterature, 1998, a one-time literary award given by the Quebecois Council for Women's Affairs on its twentieth anniversary. Vonarburg is also known for her critical essays and her translation into French of Guy Gavriel Kay's Fionavar Tapestry.

Steve Bacic is best known for his portrayal of Telemachus Rhade, a member of the Andromeda's bridge crew, but he has also appeared in several episodes of Stargate SG-1, as well as Earth: Final Conflict, The X-Files, and Blade: the Series, to name but a few of his screen credits. Mr. Bacic will be meeting his fans during the afternoons of Saturday and Sunday.

Director David Winning, appearing on Sunday only, directed episodes of Andromeda & Earth Final Conflict; his recent "Stargate: Atlantis" episode "Childhood's End" won 3 international awards for Direction in 2005.

Other luminaries participating in Con-Cept's programming include Sean Punch, the GURPS Line Editor for Steve Jackson Games, authors: Yves Meynard, Pascale Raud, Patrick Senecal, Marc Shainblum, Jean-Louis Trudel, Jo Walton, and science panellists: Eric Choi and Dr. David G. Stephenson.

Highlights of the festivities include a costume contest, Saturday night dance, a demonstration of medieval weaponry, and autograph sessions. There will be several tracks of panel discussions, gaming, and a display of costumes, models, and art.
