The Galileans 12/11/2006 . Source: Jessica Martin
Jane Johnson, Publishing Director of Voyager, has secured from agent Ralph Vicinanza The Galileans, Kim Stanley Robinson's new sf novel, an alternative history set in Renaissance Italy and centering on the life and theories of Galileo. Johnson has been publishing Robinson for the best part of twenty years and was the editor of his MARS trilogy as well as his current cutting-edge global warming thrillers FORTY SIGNS OF RAIN, FIFTY DEGREES BELOW and SIXTY DAYS AND COUNTING.
"There is no one I am prouder to publish," she told SFcrowsnest.com. "There isn't another writer in the world with Stan's breadth and depth of vision, nor anyone who combines the ability to write about science and politics with such extraordinary lyricism and humanity, all the while maintaining a page-turning narrative. When you read a Kim Stanley Robinson novel - whether it is set in the deep past or the far future - you see the world we live in now through new eyes and with a greater understanding of what makes us human."
Publication is currently scheduled for August 2009.
