The Contemplation of science fiction

The national UK science fiction con for 2007 is setting up again. As you may be aware, the Convoy 2007 committee have had to cancel their original national convention and are in the process of refunding memberships to all members. But here's some good news, a replacement convention is on its way. At Novacon 36(10th-12th November 2006), a team was appointed to organise a replacement Eastercon for 2007. This new convention is called Contemplation and is co-chaired by Chris O'Shea and Fran Dowd.
Harry Payne of Convoy has joined the Contemplation committee, to preserve continuity and to pass on the conferred authority of fandom to run the Eastercon. We will be holding the site selection vote for the 2009 Eastercon.
Unfortunately, memberships can not be transferred between Convoy and Contemplation. A mailing will be going out to the ex-Convoy members inviting them to join Contemplation. All Convoy Guests of Honour will be invited to attend Contemplation as guests, and take part in the programme, and they are aiming to confirm this as soon as possible.
A small team is investigating possible sites for Contemplation, and an announcement is expected before the end of 2006. If you believe you know of a suitable venue near you, please email contemplation@con.org as soon as possible, and they'll add it to the site investigation list.
