A For Andromeda

Following in the footsteps of BBC Four's The Quatermass Experiment in April 2005, another adaptation of a science fiction classic, A For Andromeda, comes to the TV channel. Buy A For Andromeda in the USA - or Buy A For Andromeda in the UK  In this contemporary adaptation by Richard Fell of Fred Hoyle and John Elliot's 1961 story about an alien threat to humanity, the themes of artificial intelligence, biological warfare, genetic cloning and political exploitation of science remain as relevant as they were when this cult series hit the television screens.
The new film opens as the brilliant and idealistic young scientist John Fleming, and his best friend and long-time collaborator Dennis Bridger, put the finishing touches to a new, ultra-powerful radio telescope tracking system, and pick up a strange signal.
The signal seems to have come from deep space - from the Andromeda galaxy - and before long the eerie signal is providing instructions to build a Super Computer. It rapidly amasses a wealth of information about life on Earth and becomes more powerful than anyone could ever have anticipated...
Kelly Reilly is Christine/Andromeda, Tom Hardy is John Fleming, Charlie Cox is Dennis Bridger, Jane Asher is Professor Madelaine Dawnay and David Haig is General Vandenberg.
