Spiderwick Chronicles launches official web site
09/01/2007 Source: Jessica Martin

Simon & Schuster Children's Publishing, along with Tony DiTerlizzi and Holly Black, the team behind the Spiderwick Chronicles series, have announced the launch of The International Sprite League, the official Spiderwick Fan Club website.

Soon to be a feature film from Paramount Pictures and Nickelodeon Movies slated for a 2008 release, The Spiderwick Chronicles books follow the adventures of the Grace children - Simon, Jared and Mallory - as they battle goblins, faeries and other creatures in their efforts to hold onto their uncle Arthur Spiderwick's field guide.

The newest Spiderwick title, Care and Feeding of Sprites, is now in stores. The website offers fans of the series a chance to find free and fun Spiderwick goodies and keep up on the latest news.

"We wanted The International Sprite League to be the ultimate destination for Spiderwick fans and we hope visitors have as much fun as Tony and I have had creating the website," said Holly Black. "It's a great way to hear about Spiderwick Chronicles news, find fun stuff, and, of course, learn more about sprites."

"In so many ways, the International Sprite League is the official Spiderwick club," added Tony DiTerlizzi. "At the site visitors can print a membership card, take the ISL oath with Holly and I, download desktops, and even find an iron-on to make official gear, not to mention the sneak peeks of upcoming Spiderwick projects."

In addition to The Spiderwick Chronicles, Tony DiTerlizzi is the illustrator of the 2003 Caldecott Honor Book The Spider and the Fly, as well as the cover artist to the New York Times Peter Pan in Scarlet, the official sequel to J. M. Barrie's Peter Pan. He is the creator of the Zena Sutherland Award-winning Ted, as well as Jimmy Zangwow's Out-of-this-World Moon-Pie Adventure. Tony and his wife, Angela, reside in Amherst, Massachusetts. Visit Tony online at www.diterlizzi.com

Holly Black is the author of contemporary fantasy novels for children and teens. In addition to the Spiderwick Chronicles, she's the author of Tithe: A Modern Faerie Tale, as well as the companion volume, Valiant: A Modern Tale of Faerie, which was a Book Sense Children's Pick for Fall 2005 and the recipient of the Andre Norton award for outstanding young adult science fiction and fantasy.

Her latest novel, Ironside, will be published in May 2007. She lives in Amherst, Massachusetts, with her husband, Theo.
