Sony Computer Entertainment has announced the release of Rogue Galaxy for the PlayStation. Developed by Level-5, Rogue Galaxy is a space pirate adventure set across various worlds. The development team are best known for their Dark Cloud series. "Rogue Galaxy stays true to Level-5's strengths by combining an expansive story and unique gameplay elements with a distinct visual style, full of colorful characters and extraordinary worlds," bleated Susan Nourai, a director at Sony Computer Entertainment America. "With the additions offered in the North American release, including new environments, updated battle system, and new Insectron mode, Rogue Galaxy is truly a must-own for PlayStation 2 loyalists and RPG fans seeking the ultimate adventure."
In Rogue Galaxy, players follow the story of Jaster Rogue, a young man bound to a simple existence on the desert planet Rosa. By chance, he is recruited by the space pirate Dorgengoa to embark on a treasure hunt throughout the galaxy. Jaster and the crew encounter numerous adventures and battles as they seek out the legendary planet that holds this special treasure: the key to eternal life.
Rogue Galaxy provides access to eight different characters that join the crew throughout the journey. Players control up to three characters at a time and are able to engage in real-time combat that includes chain attacks and an integrated A.I. battle suggestion system. Additionally, Rogue Galaxy provides access to multiple mini-games, including a strategic pet insect battle called Insectron, and players can generate 500 custom weapons and items through a new synthesis gameplay function.
