All change at Orbit
09/12/2007 Source: Jessica Martin

Lots of changes going on over at British science fiction imprint Orbit and the Little, Brown Book Group.

Little, Brown Book Group has told SFcrowsnest that, with effect from January 1st 2008, its Hachette Audio imprint (formerly Time Warner Audio) will be rebranded Hachette Digital.

Hachette Digital will be run jointly by David Shelley and George Walkley reporting to Ursula Mackenzie, Little, Brown CEO and Publisher. They will cover Little, Brown’s audio publishing and e-books, with responsibility for general digital strategy and on-line initiatives, in conjunction with the Little, Brown marketing team.

David Shelley, currently Paperback Publisher for Sphere, has added the role of Digital Publisher to his existing responsibilities. His role within Hachette Digital will include directing the publishing process for e-books and audio, including podcasting.

Sarah Shrubb, currently Commissioning Editor for audio, will widen her remit to include all digital product. She will continue to report to David Shelley.

George Walkley, formerly Business Manager for the Orbit imprint, has been appointed as Director of Digital Strategy. His new role will include digital warehousing and asset management; liaising with sister companies in the Hachette Livre group, e-book providers and other third parties; and technical issues.

In a parallel development, George Walkley has also been promoted to Marketing Director for Orbit, reporting to Tim Holman, and will continue to contribute to the imprint’s ongoing publishing and international expansion. Samantha Smith has been promoted to Marketing Executive for Orbit and will take over day-to-day responsibility for marketing and publicity, reporting to George Walkley.
