Jericho coming back from the brink 24/01/2008 . Source: Jessica Martin
The US SCIFI Channel has acquired off-network cable rights to the science fiction drama Jericho from CBS. The deal gives SCIFI the rights to air seasons one and two of the series where residents of a small Kansas town try to survive a nuclear attack on the USA mounted by renegade CIA officers that want the break-up of the Union. Buy Jericho in the USA - or Buy Jericho in the UK "Jericho is a gripping science fiction series that SCI FI Channel is excited to add to our schedule," said Thomas Vitale at SCIFI told SFcrowsnest.com. "Thanks to the passion and persistence of its loyal viewers who saved this program from being canceled, new viewers can now experience this show for the first time on the SCI FI Channel while CBS continues the story in its second season run starting this February."
The day after SCI FI's marathon, Jericho returns to CBS Television Network on Tuesday, February 12 at 10 p.m. ET, for its seven-episode second season. The first season's story of the residents of a small Kansas town who survive a nuclear attack got fans to rally around the show last spring, sending more than 40,000 pounds of peanuts — a reference to the final line spoken by Jericho's hero in the season finale — to CBS network executives in a bid to ensure that the series would return for a second season.
Jericho is a drama about what happens when a nuclear mushroom cloud suddenly appears on the horizon, plunging the residents of a small, peaceful Kansas town into chaos, leaving them completely isolated. But in this time of crisis, as sensible people become paranoid, personal agendas take over and well-kept secrets threaten to be revealed, some people will find an inner strength they never knew they had and the most unlikely heroes will emerge.
Jericho cast members include Skeet Ulrich (Scream, As Good As It Gets), Gerald McRaney (Ike: Countdown to D-Day), Pamela Reed (Proof of Life), Lennie James (Sahara), Michael Gaston (Prison Break), Kenneth Mitchell (The Recruit), Sprague Grayden (Six Feet Under), Erik Knudsen (Saw II), Ashley Scott (Dark Angel), Brad Beyer (Third Watch) and Alicia Coppola (National Treasure: Book of Secrets).
The series premiered on the CBS Television Network in September 2006 and is executive produced by Jon Turtletaub, Stephen Chbosky and Carol Barbee.
Jericho will make its debut on SCI FI in the USA with a four-episode marathon on Monday February 11th 2008 from 7pm-11pm ET. Jericho will begin airing in its regular time slot on Mondays at 10pm ET on February 18th 2008.
