Constellation Award nominees announced For 2008

Doctor Who takes the TV Nominations for a second year in a row, while Transformers leads in film.
Buy Doctor Who in the USA - or Buy Doctor Who in the UK  Nominations for The Constellation Awards, Canada's annual awards honouring excellence in Science Fiction Film and Television, have been announced.
The nominated works cover several sci-fi shows, and feature newer series such as Torchwood and Blood Ties & Chuck running against established fan favourites such as Battlestar Galactica and Heroes.
Doctor Who picked up six nominations, including multiple nominations in the Best Overall Science Fiction Film or Television Script category. Other nominees in the TV categories include multiple nominations for the Vancouver-filmed series Supernatural, Stargate, and Smallville.
On the film side, last year's Transformers movie beat out Enchanted and Grindhouse: Planet Terror for the most nominations. The TV Movie Razor from the Battlestar Galactica franchise is also well represented on the final ballot, as is the fantasy flick Harry Potter & The Order of the Phoenix.
In perhaps the most interesting category, Outstanding Canadian Contribution to Science Fiction Film or Television, Toronto's Tanya Huff, creator of the popular vampire series Blood Ties, finds herself pitted against Toronto-born actress Laura Vandervoort from Smallville and against four sci-fi series produced or co-produced in Canada.
Winners will be announced at the Polaris 22 convention, taking place on July 12th, 2007 at the DoubleTree by Hilton - Toronto Airport. The ceremonies will be hosted by Canadian actor/comedian Rick Green.
