Steampunk, the new fiction anthology from Tachyon Publications, made its debut before Australian audiences when co-editor Jeff VanderMeer was interviewed by Ramona Koval, host of Australian Broadcasting Corporation's Radio National (ABC RN). Buy Steampunk in the USA - or Buy Steampunk in the UK  VanderMeer, who edited the book with his wife Ann VanderMeer, spoke with Koval about the steampunk genre's roots in turn-of-the-century technology and fiction by authors like H.G. Wells and Jules Verne, as well as steampunk's continuing presence in today's culture through music, art, books and movies.
Jeff VanderMeer is a fantasy author has collaborated on short films with rock groups like The Church, is in the preliminary stages of collaboration with Ben Templesmith, who did 30 Days of Night, has had his fiction adapted for promotional purposes by Playstation Europe (by filmmaker Joel Veitch), and writes for the Amazon book blog and The Washington Post. Ann VanderMeer is the fiction editor for Weird Tales and co-editor with Jeff on Best American Fantasy, Fast Ships, Black Sails (pirates), Steampunk, and New Weird.
