Social networking for the scifi crowd 29/07/2008 . Source: Jessica Martin
There's a new social network just been set-up solely to cater for science fiction and fantasy fans - it looks something like the mutant alien cross-breeding of FaceBook, MySpace and Bebo - and its name is HiveMind. How can you not resist becoming a member? It also looks like a whole lot of SFF fun, with the ability to set up groups, establish friendships, create polls, establish calendar entries for SF club beer-ups, make your own blogs and a whole lot of other useful functions.
In fact, it's a science fiction community on genetically modified steroids.
SFF fans should find this useful to geek out together; genre authors, publishers and conventions could use this to set up groups and pages to promote their wares to the community; it could be good.
HiveMind. Consider me assimilated. And I'm not just saying that because it's running on SFcrowsnest (and Geoff said he'd buy me a chocolate ice cream If I gave it a good shout-out) - well, okay, I probably am, but it's still worth checking out.
You can find it at http://www.sfcrowsnest.com/hivemind/home.php
Geoff, where's my frakking Cornetto?
