SCI-FI Wire goes it alone

SCI FI Channel's SCIFI.com is to spin off its daily entertainment news service into a new stand alone site.

SCI FI Wire is the third new site launched by SCIFI in the past year. In November 2007, SCI FI unveiled the technology site DVICE.COM. In 2008, SCI FI also launched the game site FIDGIT.com and its Game Center, which features casual games based on SCI FI properties. "The SCI FI audience is passionate about technology, gaming and entertainment, so those three affinity areas were the natural places to expand our brand," Craig Engler at SCIFI told the Nest. "All three have been tremendously successful for us both in terms of audience and ad sales, and we expect Dvice.com, Fidgit.com and the newly launched Scifiwire.com to thrive in 2009." SCIFI.COM currently gets 3.5 million unique visitors each month.
