The Write Fantastic at Bristol
28/02/2007. Write Fantastic members Mark Chadbourn, Juliet McKenna, Stan Nicholls and Jessica Rydill will be joined by authors Diana Wynne Jones and Stephen Hunt for an event at Forbidden Planet, Bristol, on Saturday March 17th 2007, between 1-2pm.
Courting the Air
27/02/2007. Forbidden Planet announces a signing by Stephen Hunt to promote the release of his new book The Court of the Air. He will be at the Forbidden Planet Megastore, 179 Shaftesbury Avenue, London, WC2H 8JR, on Saturday 31st March 2007 1-2pm.
Boosting Jupiter
27/02/2007. NASA's New Horizons spacecraft successfully completed a flyby of Jupiter early this morning, using the massive planet's gravity to pick up speed for its 3-billion mile voyage to Pluto and the unexplored Kuiper Belt region beyond.
It's a Darker Matter

The Boy in Zaquitos

Branson cuddles up to NASA

NASA officials signed a memorandum of understanding Tuesday with a U.S. company, Virgin Galactic, LLC, to explore the potential for collaborations on the development of space suits, heat shields for spaceships, hybrid rocket motors and hypersonic vehicles capable of traveling five or more times the speed of sound.
The light of distant suns

NASA's Spitzer Space Telescope has captured for the first time enough light from planets outside our solar system, known as exoplanets, to identify signatures of molecules in their atmospheres. The achievement is a significant step toward being able to detect life on rocky exoplanets and comes years before astronomers had anticipated.
Superman Returns leads 33rd Saturn Awards
23/02/2007. The Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy & Horror films has announced the nominations for the 33rd Annual Saturn Awards. Leading the pack is Bryan Singer’s homage to the superhero mythos Superman Returns with 10 nominations.

22/02/2007. There's a new online presence for US science fiction publisher Tor, with their Forge, Orb, Starscape, and Tor Teen imprints, with information about individual authors, particular series, upcoming events, and forthcoming publishing plans.
The seas of Mars
21/02/2007. Liquid or gas flowed through cracks penetrating underground rock on Mars, according to a report based on some of the first observations by NASA's Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter. These fluids may have produced conditions to support possible habitats for microbial life.
New mega deal for John Jarrold
21/02/2007. John Jarrold has confirmed a World Rights deal with Simon Spanton of Gollancz for three fantasy novels by new US writer Robert V. S. Redick. Spanton pre-empted for a good six-figure sum in pounds sterling.
Ann VanderMeer joins Weird Tales
20/02/2007. Weird Tales publisher John Gregory Betancourt has announced the selection of Ann VanderMeer as the magazine's new fiction editor.
Battlestar Galactica coming at ya
20/02/2007. The SCIFI Channel has renewed its TV series Battlestar Galactica. The Channel will bring the series back for a minimum of 13 hours. Production will resume this summer with an eye toward a January 2008 premiere.
Spindle optioned for film and TV
19/02/2007. Comedy SciFi novel Spindle by Ian Taylor has been optioned by an Aussie film and TV production company.
Galactica goes arcade
19/02/2007. Sierra Online, a division of Vivendi Games, is creating a video game inspired by the television series, Battlestar Galactica airing on the SCIFI Channel.

17/02/2007. John Simm is back for the final time as DI Sam Tyler, the time-travelling detective who, following a car accident, found himself back in 1973, as the Emmy Award-winning series Life On Mars returns to BBC One.
USA heating up

Rogue Galaxy
08/02/2007. Sony Computer Entertainment has announced the release of Rogue Galaxy for the PlayStation. Developed by Level-5, Rogue Galaxy is a space pirate adventure set across various worlds. The development team are best known for their Dark Cloud series.
