Michael Marshall with Hazard Warning 28/02/2007. SFF author Marshall is coming to the Guildhall Theatre in the UK's Derby on Thursday 15th March 2007. 
The Write Fantastic at Bristol 28/02/2007. Write Fantastic members Mark Chadbourn, Juliet McKenna, Stan Nicholls and Jessica Rydill will be joined by authors Diana Wynne Jones and Stephen Hunt for an event at Forbidden Planet, Bristol, on Saturday March 17th 2007, between 1-2pm. 
Courting the Air 27/02/2007. Forbidden Planet announces a signing by Stephen Hunt to promote the release of his new book The Court of the Air. He will be at the Forbidden Planet Megastore, 179 Shaftesbury Avenue, London, WC2H 8JR, on Saturday 31st March 2007 1-2pm. 
Boosting Jupiter 27/02/2007. NASA's New Horizons spacecraft successfully completed a flyby of Jupiter early this morning, using the massive planet's gravity to pick up speed for its 3-billion mile voyage to Pluto and the unexplored Kuiper Belt region beyond. 
It's a Darker Matter 26/02/2007. March 2007 sees the launch of Darker Matter, an online science fiction magazine that focuses on new SF short stories. 
JJ Abrams to direct Star Trek movie 26/02/2007. Star Trek is set to return to the big screen under the creative vision of J.J. Abrams, the force behind Lost, Alias and Mission Impossible III for Paramount Pictures. 
The Boy in Zaquitos 25/02/2007. Bruce McAllister's short story The Boy in Zaquitos has been selected to appear in the 2007 volume of The Best American Short Stories, guest-edited by Stephen King. 
US anime fans get new site 25/02/2007. AnimeOnline provides news and social networking for anime, manga and Japanese culture fans. 
Branson cuddles up to NASA 24/02/2007. NASA officials signed a memorandum of understanding Tuesday with a U.S. company, Virgin Galactic, LLC, to explore the potential for collaborations on the development of space suits, heat shields for spaceships, hybrid rocket motors and hypersonic vehicles capable of traveling five or more times the speed of sound. 
The light of distant suns 24/02/2007. NASA's Spitzer Space Telescope has captured for the first time enough light from planets outside our solar system, known as exoplanets, to identify signatures of molecules in their atmospheres. The achievement is a significant step toward being able to detect life on rocky exoplanets and comes years before astronomers had anticipated. 
Superman Returns leads 33rd Saturn Awards 23/02/2007. The Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy & Horror films has announced the nominations for the 33rd Annual Saturn Awards. Leading the pack is Bryan Singer’s homage to the superhero mythos Superman Returns with 10 nominations. 
Justina Robson goes Brum 23/02/2007. Justina Robson, SFF author, is visiting the Birmingham Science Fiction Group on Friday March 9th, 2007. 
Money from old zombies 22/02/2007. Renegade Motion Pictures looks to sell shares of planned horror movie to fans. 
Tor's new web site 22/02/2007. There's a new online presence for US science fiction publisher Tor, with their Forge, Orb, Starscape, and Tor Teen imprints, with information about individual authors, particular series, upcoming events, and forthcoming publishing plans. 
The seas of Mars 21/02/2007. Liquid or gas flowed through cracks penetrating underground rock on Mars, according to a report based on some of the first observations by NASA's Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter. These fluids may have produced conditions to support possible habitats for microbial life. 
New mega deal for John Jarrold 21/02/2007. John Jarrold has confirmed a World Rights deal with Simon Spanton of Gollancz for three fantasy novels by new US writer Robert V. S. Redick. Spanton pre-empted for a good six-figure sum in pounds sterling. 
Ann VanderMeer joins Weird Tales 20/02/2007. Weird Tales publisher John Gregory Betancourt has announced the selection of Ann VanderMeer as the magazine's new fiction editor. 
Battlestar Galactica coming at ya 20/02/2007. The SCIFI Channel has renewed its TV series Battlestar Galactica. The Channel will bring the series back for a minimum of 13 hours. Production will resume this summer with an eye toward a January 2008 premiere. 
Spindle optioned for film and TV 19/02/2007. Comedy SciFi novel Spindle by Ian Taylor has been optioned by an Aussie film and TV production company. 
Galactica goes arcade 19/02/2007. Sierra Online, a division of Vivendi Games, is creating a video game inspired by the television series, Battlestar Galactica airing on the SCIFI Channel. 
Farragut streams out Trek clone 18/02/2007. Starship Farragut are to debut their first episode The Captaincy at the Farpoint 2007 science fiction convention in Baltimore. 
Flames of Herakleitos 18/02/2007. Robert Lock's debut Dark-SF/F novel Flames of Herakleitos is due out at the end of March 2007. 
Back in the nick-nick of time 17/02/2007. John Simm is back for the final time as DI Sam Tyler, the time-travelling detective who, following a car accident, found himself back in 1973, as the Emmy Award-winning series Life On Mars returns to BBC One. 
USA heating up 17/02/2007. NASA scientists may have discovered how a warmer climate in the future could increase droughts in certain parts of the world, including the southwest United States. 
Martyn Taylor joins JJLA 16/02/2007. UK author Martyn Taylor has joined the John Jarrold Literary Agency. Martyn has had a number of short stories published in SF Fantasy magazines and in computer games magazines. 
Prime Books picks up Spiders 16/02/2007. US rights in The Spider's Bride, the debut novel of UK writer Debbie Gallagher, have been sold to Sean Wallace of Prime Books in the USA by John Jarrold. 
John Jarrold goes Dutch 15/02/2007. Dutch fantasy writer W J Maryson has joined the John Jarrold Literary Agency for science fiction and fantasy stars.

Denise Mina's auction 12/02/2007. Some news in from Joe of Forbidden Planet International. Author Denise Mina of Hellblazer fame is holding an online auction for Oxfam. 
James Patrick Kelly gets Audible 12/02/2007. Audible.com, a seller of audiobooks online, has launched SFF editor and author James Patrick Kelly's StoryPod, a for-pay podcast that features Kelly reading his own work. Subscribers to StoryPod 1.0 will get thirteen stories delivered weekly.

New Farmerphile issue hits the streets 10/02/2007. The January 2007 issue of Farmerphile features author Philip Jose Farmer’s previously unpublished science fiction story The Frames, a prophetically disturbing look at the electronic duplicity of our media.

Denvention3 announces artist guest of honour 09/02/2007. Denvention3, the 66th World Science Fiction Convention, has told the Nest that Rick Sternbach has accepted an invitation to be the Artist Guest of Honour for the convention. 
Rogue Galaxy 08/02/2007. Sony Computer Entertainment has announced the release of Rogue Galaxy for the PlayStation. Developed by Level-5, Rogue Galaxy is a space pirate adventure set across various worlds. The development team are best known for their Dark Cloud series. 
James Patrick Kelly's StoryPod 08/02/2007. SFF author and editor James Patrick Kelly is coming to Audible.com with a new project. 
An Odyssey for podcasting 07/02/2007. Beginning February 1st 2007, the Odyssey sci-fi Writing Workshop will offer free podcasts on their website. 
Chris Beckett goes Prime 06/02/2007. US rights in Chris Beckett’s second SFF novel, Marcher, have been sold to Sean Wallace of Prime Books in the USA by John Jarrold. The book will also be distributed in the UK and Commonwealth.
