Star Wars is stamped
15/03/2007. Luke Skywalker, Yoda, Darth Vader and R2-D2 are among the Star Wars characters debuting on fifteen new US 41-cent postage stamps unveiled at Grauman's Chinese Theatre in Los Angeles, where the first Star Wars movie opened nearly thirty years ago.

The rage of the sun
15/03/2007. No, not the UK tabloid. NASA has released never-before-seen images that show the sun's magnetic field is much more turbulent and dynamic than previously known. The international spacecraft Hinode, formerly known as Solar B, took the images.

Telos speaks
15/03/2007. The UK publisher Telos has just been updated their web site with all their new SFF titles for 2007. It's their usual selection covering factual guides to genre film and television and some SFF fiction to boot.

TV Avengers feature in new Comics International
15/03/2007. Fans of John Steed, Cathy Gale, Emma Peel et al might want to scurry on down to their local comics shop for a copy of Comics International 201, the 100-page first issue from new publisher Cosmic Publications.

Ice on Mars' South Pole is deep and wide
15/03/2007. The polar region contains enough frozen water to cover the whole planet in a liquid layer approximately 36 feet deep says a joint NASA-Italian Space Agency instrument on the European Space Agency's Mars Express spacecraft provided these data.

Star Wars fans struck in face by movie challenge gauntlet
15/03/2007. Lucasfilm has teamed up with AtomFilms and Spike TV for the launch of the Star Wars Fan Movie Challenge. Challenge award recipients will be unveiled at the Star Wars Celebration IV fan event in Los Angeles May 24th to 28th, 2007.

Arctic shoot aboard North Pole sub for Stargate Continuum
15/03/2007. MGM is teaming with the US Navy to capture a series of adventure scenes for the Studio's upcoming Stargate SG-1 direct-to-video, Stargate: Continuum. Cast members, including Ben Browder (Stargate SG1's Lt. Colonel Cameron Mitchell) and Amanda Tapping (Lt. Col. Samantha Carter) will travel to the sub-zero climate of the Arctic to shoot at the Navy's Applied Physics Laboratory Ice Station (APLIS) for the week of March 23rd 2007 through 29th.

Deadly seas of Titan
15/03/2007. Instruments on NASA's Cassini spacecraft have found evidence for seas, likely filled with liquid methane or ethane, in the high northern latitudes of Saturn's moon Titan. One such feature is larger than any of the Great Lakes of North America and is about the same size as several seas on Earth.

Court of the Air selected by Waterstone's
15/03/2007. The fantasy novel The Court of the Air is selected by the UK bookseller chain Waterstone's as their hot recommendation to read for April 2007.

Solomon Kane
15/03/2007. According to the Hollywood Reporter, Davis Films will start production on Solomon Kane, based on the Robert E. Howard character, in May 2007.

Boosting Jupiter
15/03/2007. NASA's New Horizons spacecraft successfully completed a flyby of Jupiter early this morning, using the massive planet's gravity to pick up speed for its 3-billion mile voyage to Pluto and the unexplored Kuiper Belt region beyond.
