Booking Indiana 29/09/2007. Del Rey Books has announced today that it will publish tie-in books based on Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, which will premiere May 22nd 2008.

The Gilded Griffin 26/09/2007. Former MD of the Bellagio Gallery of Fine Art, Matthew Hileman, is setting up a new online fantasy art company, The Gilded Griffin. The Gilded Griffin will focus exclusively on imaginative artwork from both contemporary artists and those from past centuries.

Subterranean to publish e-books through Baen 24/09/2007. US scifi publisher Baen Books has concluded a deal to release electronic versions of select Subterranean Press titles. 
Et Tu, Doctor Who? 23/09/2007. The Doctor and his new companion Donna are set to travel back in time to the Roman Empire for the fourth series of Doctor Who, the drama which will transmit on BBC One in spring 2008. 
Spider-Man the musical 22/09/2007. Julie Taymor and U2’s Bono and The Edge are to collaborate on a Broadway musical for the web-slinger. 
US TV geeks up 21/09/2007. US television shows such as The Big Bang Theory, The Sarah Connor Chronicles and the Bionic Woman now comprise 20 percent of the US tv networks' prime-time programming for the 2007-08 season. They join returning shows like Heroes, Chuck and Battlestar Galactica. Yep, it's a sci-fi world. 
Ent it grand 20/09/2007. Tolkien fans will shortly be able to subscribe to a public appeal to finance a Tim Tolkien-made sculpture of one of the Ent tree-beings, celebrating the author and his Birmingham roots. From October 1st 2007, courtesy of EBay, fans will be able to bid for a metal leaf with a personalised dedication. 
British Fantasy Awards 07 19/09/2007. The British Fantasy Society has announced the winners of the 2007 British Fantasy Awards. The presentations were made at Fantasycon 2007 in the UK citiy of Nottingham on 23rd September 2007. 
Neil Gaiman in conversation 18/09/2007. Fantasy author and comic book guru Neil Gaiman will be in conversation with Claire Armitstead, Guardian Literary Editor at London's Criterion Theatre on the 2nd October 2007. 
Spy-fi update 17/09/2007. British spy drama Spooks returns to BBC One this autumn 2007 in a new format. Over the course of 10 hour-long episodes, Adam, Harry and the team are immersed in their most intricate operations to date. 
The caves of Mars 16/09/2007. NASA's Mars Odyssey spacecraft has discovered entrances to seven possible caves on the slopes of a Martian volcano. The find is fueling interest in potential underground habitats and sparking searches for caverns elsewhere on the Red Planet. 
Trek meets Frasier 16/09/2007. Star Trek Voyager re-done with the cast of US comedy series Frasier. No, really. 
The lakes of Mars 15/09/2007. NASA's Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter is examining several features on Mars that address the role of water at different times in Martian history. Features examined with the orbiter's advanced instruments include material deposited in two gullies within the past eight years, polar ice layers formed in the recent geologic past, and signs of water released by large impacts when Mars was older. 
Heroes: Saving Charlie 14/09/2007. US sci-fi publisher Del Rey is to publish a novel based on the tv series Heroes. Heroes: Saving Charlie, by Aury Wallington, will be based on the characters Hiro Nakamura (Masi Oka) and Charlie (Jayma Mays).

Monsters vs. Aliens update 13/09/2007. The new Monsters vs. Aliens movie from DreamWorks is to invade cinemas a little earlier than expected. 
Phoo Action 12/09/2007. British actress Jaime Winstone (Kidulthood) will team up with America's Carl Weathers (Rocky, Predator) and Eddie Shin (ER) in Phoo Action, a kung-fu superhero drama based on comic characters created by Jamie 'Tank Girl' Hewlett.

Robert Jordan dies 11/09/2007. A family member has confirmed that fantasy author Robert Jordan, author of the Wheel of Time series of books, has lost his battle with cancer. 
Hail the Defuser 10/09/2007. Stan Lee crowns US copper Jarrett Crippin as America's newest superhero. 
Del Rey Manga 10/09/2007. US imprint Del Rey Manga has a new haircut, a mani-pedi, and a wardrobe refresher-in other words, it's a total makeover of their web site. 
Google goes to the moon 09/09/2007. The X PRIZE Foundation and Google have launched the Google Lunar X PRIZE, a robotic race to the Moon to win a new $30 million prize purse. The Google Lunar X PRIZE aims to challenge and inspire engineers and entrepreneurs to develop low-cost methods of robotic space exploration.

Spanish science fiction for 2007 08/09/2007. The Xatafi Cultural Association have announced the winners of the Xatafi-Cyberdark Fantastic Literature Award 2007 (the main Spanish sci-fi awards), for the best works of fantastic literature published the last year. 
SFX tells it like it is 08/09/2007. Glossy UK scifi magazine SFX tells it how it is when they look at the strange fuel that keeps the Brit's fantasy authors on the road when it comes to delivering their next manuscript to the publisher's doorstep. 
Respect to the genre 07/09/2007. The UK's Telegraph newspaper extends some respect to the genre, including an interview with fantasy author Stephen Hunt talking about The Court of the Air alongside all the other (yeah, cough) Man Booker nominees.

Neil Gaiman - teacher 05/09/2007. The Clarion Foundation has announced the faculty for their 2008 Clarion Writers Workshop, which is to include authors Kelly Link, James Patrick Kelly, Mary Anne Mohanraj, Neil Gaiman with Nalo Hopkinson and Geoff Ryman team teaching the final two weeks. 
Master Chief gets waxed up 04/09/2007. Sci-fi marine Master Chief from the Xbox 360's Halo game is the first video game character to be enshrined in Madame Tussauds. The life-sized figure of Halo's Master Chief was revealed to the world by bass player Pete Wentz of lad band Fall Out Boy at an official unveiling ceremony this Saturday.
