Pokemon stole my identity and turned me into a monster !

A legal case that's been reported in the press recently, is that of Pokemon vs Uri Gellar, the much touted psychic magician from Israel who can bend metal objects with the force of his mind.

Uri Gellar was said last month by the British press to be bringing a legal action action gaming company Nintendo for "hundreds of millions of dollars" over the alleged creation of a cartoon Pokemon monster called Yun Geller.

Yun Gellar's primary weapon - apparently - is a bent spoon which acts as a kind of magic staff, which gives Yun Gellar the power of psychic mind-waves that flood an opponent with deadly migraines and confusion.

Uri Gellar was reported to be incensed by the use of a character which he claims is clearly modeled on himself and his own powers.

Gellar was said to be even madder about the double lightning bolts on Yun Gellar's chest and a star on the character's head.

This he had supposedly been interpreted by our magician chum as a Waffen SS uniform (the double lightning bolts were the insignia of Hitler's cruel DeathsHead legion) and the Star of David burned onto his forehead - Gellar is of course a jew of high standing.

"Nintendo turned me into an evil, occult Pokemon character ... Nintendo stole my identity by using my name and my signature image of a bent spoon," Gellar was reported to have shouted.

Is this story true? We couldn't get anyone at Nintendo to comment, but your seekers after truth on the 'Nest did check the Pokodex - Nintendo's online encyclopedia of all Pokemon pocket monsters, and could find no reference to a Yun Gellar.

Either Nintendo removed the character from the Pokodex out of embarrassment, or the British tabloid press has been taken for a ride (it wouldn't be the first time, let's face it).

So here's your challenge, SFcrowsnest fans. We've got a new hardback copy of the novel Balance Point, part of StarWars The New Jedi Order series, by Kathy Tyers, worth £15.99 or c. $20 ready to send out to the first reader who can supply us with a JPEG or GIF of Yun Gellar and comprehensive details of the episode of Pokemon he appeared in.

Sadly, ever since the Nest became the most popular SF site in Europe, our servers have been targeted by spam-bots crawling for e-mails to add to their junk-mail lists, and your poor pals here have been flooded by shite offers to buy erection drugs, Russian company shares, and other assorted nonsense. Ho hum.

I am sure I saw the episode of Pokemon on TV where Yun Gellar appeared. He was attacking Pikachu and the gang in some kind of tournament hall, as I recall.

Yeah, I think I remember this episode. I even thought at the time, bent spoon, they're taking the piss out of that magic guy. It's just a joke though - shit, if you're going to sue over that, imagine what you could to SouthPark where they really do rip the piss out of celebs every episode.

Sense of humor failure, I guess
