With
‘Farscape’s far too premature ending on TV, episode guide book versions
are always going to be in short supply.
Somewhere down the line, unless you bought these companion books
when they first came out, one day you’re going to be stalking second-hand
bookshops, you’re going to regret not getting a complete set for
reference.
My
criticisms of the earlier 3 volumes still stand. It would have been
nice to have the episodes numbered for quick reference - maybe when
reprinted? - and complete synopsises than trail-offs.
Considering that one of ‘Farscape’s strengths was its own continuity,
synopsis follow-through would be far more important to see what
led to the beginning of the next episode. It’s hardly like you’re
going to be buying this book without having seen the series first
after all.
Saying that, there’s loads of comments and interviews with cast
and crew, as well as the reaction to the cancellation. Although
in black and white, there are production sketches and sets that
haven’t been seen elsewhere here as well.
I still maintain a comprehensive all colour ‘Farscape’ book would
sell well, especially one devoted to Dave Eisley’s team’s superb
make-up work.
The insight he gives here of the hard work just this one aspect
of the production did is always fascinating and I’m a sucker for
this kinda info anyway.
